ISLAMABAD: In a move aimed at expanding digital public services, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has enabled citizens to download digital versions of their vehicle registration and arms license cards through its official Pak ID mobile application.
The service, introduced under the latest app update, allows users to securely store these documents on their smartphones free of charge, removing the need to carry physical copies. Officials say the step is part of a broader effort to promote paperless services and strengthen Pakistan’s digital infrastructure.
How the Service Works
After installing the Pak ID app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store, users can log in, navigate to the “Other Government Services” section, and access options for both the digital vehicle card and the arms license card. Once downloaded, the documents are stored in the app’s “ID Vault” for quick retrieval.
NADRA has confirmed there are no fees associated with this feature, making it accessible to all registered users nationwide.
Expanded Services for Child Registration
Alongside the digital licensing update, NADRA has also streamlined the process for obtaining a Child Registration Certificate (CRC), commonly known as the B-Form. The move aims to ensure that every child in Pakistan receives official identification at an early age.
To apply, parents must provide their original Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) and the child’s birth certificate from the Union Council or Cantonment Board. Additional documents are required in cases of adoption or citizenship grants.
Requirements vary by age:
-
Under 3 years: No photograph or presence required.
-
Ages 3–10 years: Photograph required only.
-
Ages 10–18 years: Photograph, fingerprints, and iris scan are mandatory.
Driving Digital Transformation
NADRA’s latest measures reflect its growing role in advancing digital governance across Pakistan. By integrating essential public services into its mobile platform, the authority aims to make official documentation more secure, accessible, and convenient for millions of citizens.
