Punjab CM Opens Applications for Next Phase of Honhaar Scholarship Programme

LAHORE — Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced the launch of the next phase of the Honhaar Scholarship Programme, inviting students from across the province to apply.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, the chief minister said the dedicated Honhaar Scholarship Portal is now open for a new round of applications. She encouraged students to apply with “confidence and dedication,” calling their ambitions “the heartbeat of Punjab’s future.”

80,000 Students to Benefit from the Scheme

According to Maryam Nawaz, the scholarship programme has so far reached 80,000 students, with 50,000 already receiving financial support and another 30,000 set to benefit in the coming months. She pledged that more students will be added as the programme expands.

Launched last year, the Honhaar Scholarship Programme offers opportunities in 67 “future-proof” disciplines aimed at equipping young people with skills that match emerging economic needs. The initiative is part of the Punjab government’s broader strategy to prepare students for a competitive job market and strengthen the province’s human capital.

The chief minister said the academic achievements of students will remain her “greatest pride,” urging them to pursue their studies with passion and focus.
