NADRA Introduces Online Birth and Death Registration via Pak ID App

ISLAMABAD – In a significant step toward building a “Digital Pakistan,” the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched an online service allowing citizens to register births and deaths without visiting union councils.

The new system, accessible through the Pak ID mobile application, enables users to submit information directly to the relevant union council from home. This eliminates the need for in-person visits, streamlining a process that previously required multiple trips and paperwork.

Initial Rollout in Three Districts

The service is currently available in:

  • Chakwal – 71 union councils

  • Jhelum – 44 union councils

  • Nankana Sahib – 65 union councils

NADRA confirmed that the program will be expanded nationwide in phases, ensuring all citizens eventually have access to the digital registration platform.

Other Digital Services

Alongside the new registration service, NADRA continues to offer its Pak-Identity portal for online CNIC-related services such as renewals, reprints, and modifications. However, first-time CNIC applications still require in-person visits to ensure proper verification.

The agency says its efforts aim to make identity registration simpler, faster, and more accessible to the public.

CNIC Fee Structure

NADRA provides three fee categories for CNIC processing based on urgency:

  • Executive – 7 days, PKR 2,500

  • Urgent – 15 days, PKR 1,500

  • Normal – 30 days, PKR 750

With this initiative, NADRA hopes to reduce administrative delays, improve public convenience, and move closer to a fully digital governance system.
